Built in 1901, the Centennial Light is located in Livermore, California, and is maintained by the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department. Perhaps even more incredible is the massive feud that has been burning over the longest lasting light bulb and its competitors. The angry letters and rumors have sparked quite a few people to roll their eyes at the situation. We’ll shed some light on this controversy, and the secret to the longest lasting bulbs on Earth.

Bread Biting Bird Could Have Cost CERN a Lot More Dough
CERN’s LHC is making the news again as the project runs into yet another snag. With the program about to go back online after two failed attempts to find the boson or “god” particle, workers at CERN were shocked to find that a bird had dropped a bit of baguette into the $10 billion machine earlier today. Had the machine been activated without removing the obstruction it would have gone into “shut-down mode.”

The Legend of Blackbeard
Blackbeard the infamous pirate was known to purposefully elevate his level of notoriety and strike fear into those who came in contact with him. He capitalized off of his already large, tall stature and imposing braided black beard, which he tied with ribbons. To enhance his appearance, he lit cannon fuses dipped in lime water or salt peter, and tucked them away under the edge of his hat (or beard). The sight was quite intimidating, as smoke would surround his head.

Zombie Apocalypse: More Likely than you Think
The idea of a zombie apocalypse is generally sequestered to the realm of fiction. But is it possible a zombie apocalypse could really happen? The reality is more terrifying than we previously thought.

Nome Alaska: The Nature of A Coverup
Viral marketing campaigns are apparently an integral part of paranormal research these days. It seems every other new movie that comes out is in some way connected to a deep dark paranormal legend that no one has heard about except those directly associated with the film. Of course this is merely fun and games, and generally leads to good storytelling, but these campaigns can be so persistent and convincing that sifting through the hoaxes can waste lots of valuable time. Such is the case with the Nome Alaska Alien Abduction story.

CERN's LHC Affecting Time Stream?
Cern’s Large Hadron Collider is the closest thing the mainstream public is currently aware of that closely resembles a mad scientist’s laboratory and doomsday device all rolled up into one. Ever since the Supercolliding Superconductor met its fate in 1993, the search for observable data about the Higg’s Boson has been met with a string of incredibly bizarre bad luck. This bad luck has led some scientists to speculate that there may perhaps be a more dramatic explanation than just sheer chance. Could the LHC be causing a paradox that ultimately affects itself to ensure it is never switched on successfully?

Finally! A Unified Theory of Zombie Survival
Since the 1960’s zombies have held a special place in the hearts and minds of the global populace. People have been flocking to "Zombie Land" in droves, crowding and pushing each other out of the way while groaning for more just like a pack of mindless… I can’t think of a parallel. Nonetheless, who hasn’t had ‘The Zombie Talk’ with their friends; a candid and serious tactical discussion about what they’re going to do in the event of a zombie outbreak? This cultural obsession hearkens to something very primal in the human consciousness that relies on twitch reflexes and cleverness that appeals to us all. One scientist at the Università di Parma in Italy may have finally answered the question, “If I were being chased by a legion of the undead, where should I go?”
