From the strange happenings going on at the Riverside Cemetery in Riverside to the reported EMF activity at the Del Ray Cemetery, California has an endless collection of haunted graveyards to explore. In this article, you will also learn which cemetery is home to a phantom pit bull.

Riverside Cemetery – Riverside

Now owned by Riverside Parks and Recreation, the cemetery in Riverside is known as an extremely old burial site with fallen headstones and gravesites in disarray. Some residents live only 50 feet from the cemetery and have reported strange happenings to take place on the grounds. With a "One Way" sign situated across from the cemetery that gives off a creepy glow when the streetlights provide illumination, this cemetery certainly has an added fear factor.

Acacia Cemetery – Modesto

If you drive through Acacia Cemetery during the day, you may hear the crying and screaming of a person in mourning. Some people have reported their encounters at the cemetery as a rather intense experience.

Hillside Cemetery – Redlands

Some of the deceased that call the Hillside Cemetery their final resting place once lived during the early- to mid-1800s. Many reports surround this cemetery, including the unexplainable honking of car horns.

Sacramento City Cemetery – Sacramento

More than one apparition is known to haunt the Sacramento City Cemetery, including a couple that are seen dressed in black. A phantom pit bull known to follow visitors around the cemetery has been reported. Despite no animal allowed inside the gates, the dog appears and disappears at will. Close to the headstone of a deceased child, a small girl has been seen playing. During the night, the cemetery is closed, but sometimes, guided tours are given because of the numerous hauntings associated with the site.

Del Rey Cemetery – Del Rey

Some of the occurrences reported to take place at the Del Rey Cemetery include unexplainable moaning and detected cold spots. Once an EMF detector was brought into the cemetery and the indicators and reading spiked.

Agua Mansa Road and Cemetery – Colton

The cemetery found along Agua Mansa Road is believed to be the haunting grounds of a woman known to walk the road in search of her children.

Pioneer Cemetery – Coloma

Watching over the Schieffer family plot in the old settlers graveyard, there is the legend of a phantom woman dressed in burgundy. With hair parted in the middle and pulled tightly in a bun, it is not known if she is one of the occupants of the Schieffer graveyard. The markers read that William Schieffer (2) died in 1861, Charles Schieffer (42) died in 1864, and May Schieffer (27) died in 1890.

El Dorado Cemetery – El Dorado

Some of the odd reports surrounding the El Dorado Cemetery include sightings of orbs in the middle of the might and hearing the voice of a child.
