Is there a ghost in the machine stopping CERN from powering up? After scouring the internet for information on CERN, something keeps popping up again and again, and it’s difficult to believe no one has proposed it yet. Of course while this is purely speculative, is it possible that CERN’s LHC could be haunted? At first this may seem like a theory without evidence, but with the theories being thrown around by scientists about time travel, Ghosts don’t seem that unlikely at this point.

During a recent ghost hunting expedition in the Wellsburg Aspen Manor Mansion in West Virginia, psychics began to feel ill when entering the basement. Members of the paranormal team wondered what could possibly be so drastically wrong. Soon equipment was brought in, and there seemed to be a concentrated area of energy around one area of wall. Upon closer inspection, the wall actually seemed like it may have been closed up separately from the rest of the wall. The team was shocked when the wall was demolished and out tumbled the bones of an unknown person who had been sawed to pieces before being walled up.

The Doppelgänger has had a long history in mythology both contemporary and ancient. The Norse vardøger was seen as a symbol of foreboding and death for the viewer. Often, these apparitions are held with the same fear and reverence as other ghosts. Doppelgänger in literal German is derived from the words “Double” and “Goer.” To see the face of your own doppelgänger, it is said, is to see your own death. But it wasn’t simply anyone who saw the dreaded doppelgänger, as many famous people saw them as well, including presidents.

Blackbeard came in contact with another known pirate, Stede Bonnet sometime during late 1717 or early 1718 – a 'gentleman pirate' that amused Edward. He brought him aboard his ship (the 'Revenge') and enjoyed his company. At this time, he commanded four ships and was in charge of more than 300 men.

“If you look into a mirror and say the name Bloody Mary thirteen times with the lights out, the ghost of a little girl will fly out and slit your throat,” or so goes one permutation of a tale told again and again throughout history of the legendary folk monster, Bloody Mary, the horror that will come from the other side of the mirror and kill you or maim you if you dare speak her name. Some versions of the story place Bloody Mary as the vengeful ghost of a woman whose children were kidnapped and murdered while others say it was a jilted lover who angrily killed her love interest and then herself in a bloodbath. But staring into mirrors to contact the other side was a method employed long before Bloody Mary.

Appearing as a striking sailing ship with sound of partying onboard, it is known to quickly disappear. Two other ghost ship legends are discussed in this article:
