Is there a ghost in the machine stopping CERN from powering up? After scouring the internet for information on CERN, something keeps popping up again and again, and it’s difficult to believe no one has proposed it yet. Of course while this is purely speculative, is it possible that CERN’s LHC could be haunted? At first this may seem like a theory without evidence, but with the theories being thrown around by scientists about time travel, Ghosts don’t seem that unlikely at this point.

The Pygmy Hippo, once considered a rare species only present in western Africa, has been shot and killed in Australia. The small creature was thought to be a large pig and shot by a hunting expedition. They were amazed, however, when they found it was not a pig but rather the smallest hippo they had ever seen. Could Australia have more of these creatures roaming about? The creature was actually suspected for some time to be in the area, but largely dismissed as a wild story dreamed up for tourists. Of course eyewitness testimony was for years discounted as the legend of the tiny hippo circulated.

They’re called SLIders - the term used to refer to those who regularly experience a phenomenon known as Street Light Interference (SLI). This anomaly has recently gained mainstream attention across the internet, spurring scientists to study its cause and possible effects. Have you ever been walking underneath or near a street-light and have it suddenly buzz and click off? If so, you may be a SLIder.

Jeremy Bentham is still seen around University College in London, going to meetings despite the fact that he is currently over 261 years old, making him the oldest person to ever be officially marked “present” at the place of higher learning’s very formal board meetings. He has also been dead since 1832.

Nina Kulagina, or the ’Soviet Psionic’ as she became known was born in 1927 in a small village in Soviet Russia. At the age of 14 she joined the Soviet tank division with the hopes of serving The Red Army. After Stalin’s ill fated Molotov-Ribbentrop nonaggression pact with the Nazis resulted in the invasion and eventual defeat of the Nazis in Russia, Nina left the Red Army to pursue a domestic life as a housewife. But then in the 1960s, she found that something about her was very different. Her talents would soon result in her being an international figure, and a contender in the unspoken “psionic” race between the US and the USSR.

Shortly before the iron curtain fell on the tragedy known as The Cold War, there was a politically high charged chess game in 1978 held by the two greatest world champions at that time. Viktor Korchnoi and Anatoly Karpov sat together in Marano Italy. Korchnoi, after defecting from the Soviet Union, played without a country’s flag to represent him. Karpov, far younger than Korchnoi, may have had an assistant in the audience, however, under the gaze of the psychic Dr. Zukhar.
Given the high number of animal attacks on humans in the past few weeks, it may be heartening to note that at one time there was an entire countryside completely paralyzed with fear over a pair of creatures terrorizing people every other day. The Beasts of Gevaudan, as they came known to be, had a three year reign of terror with a trail of blood left behind them.

New developments have arisen in the case of 11 year old Lisa, who is still missing after three witnesses say they were all four chased by mysterious beams of light in the middle of the woods. The chilling encounter spurred a nationwide search across the Ural mountains of Russia, where UFO sightings are commonplace. Since neither the girl, nor her body have been discovered, some are wondering if her disappearance could have been a supernatural occurrence. Incredibly, this is not the first time the Ural mountains have been associated with mysterious beams of light and the death or disappearance of a witness. It has, in fact, happened to nine other people, all dead.

On Halloween we expect to see people walking dressed as all manner of horror movie creations from vampires to werewolves to sheet draped ghosts. But which would you rather run into while walking through a darkened field in the middle of the night, a vampire or a clown? If you answered your door and found someone standing outside asking to use your phone, which would you let into your house? There’s just something about clowns that is unexplainably terrifying to us all.
Famed founder of Rhode Island, Roger Williams, was hailed as a great hero by the people. When he died, he was buried on his own property before being moved in the 19th century to the tomb of one of his descendants in the North Burial Ground. Some wondered if the great Roger Williams was beginning to become annoyed at the constant removal of his body from grave to grave. What admirers found when he was to be exhumed and interred the fourth time, however, would mystify observers.

In 1803, a man by the name of Joseph Samuels stood beside the gallows in Sydney Australia, wrists bound behind his back. In assembly was the sheriff, the family of a dead police officer, Joseph Samuels' partner in crime, and a crowd of onlookers eager to see Joseph get his just reward for his high crime of murder. As Samuels shifted uneasily, he reiterated his confession as an accomplice to the theft of a desk containing over 100 gold coins, but again denied he was guilty of murder. Believe it or not, this would not be the last time he would be standing beside the gallows about to be executed. It would seem fate had something else in store for Joseph Samuels.

A report has recently been published by an anonymous witness regarding an event which took place on October 13. Shortly before hearing of the Moscow Halo cloud formation, this witness was driving down a lonely stretch of road at night just past the Doylestown area southwest of Akron heading toward Cleveland and he saw a spectacular light show in the sky which he would later describe as bearing a striking resemblance to the Moscow Halo cloud sighted earlier that day.

Oscar Wrigley, the two year old with the IQ of some of the greatest thinkers of our century, is getting quite a bit of attention these days. The GCIC (Gifted Children’s Information Center) in Solihull says Oscar has got to be the brightest child they have ever assessed. Prodigiously promising Oscar is in the 99.99th percentile of the population’s intelligence, and has reached the Stanford-Binet test’s maximum potential IQ measurement of 160.

On November 15, 1966, two couples from Point Pleasant West Virginia witnessed the appearance of an entity that would terrorize the town for weeks. The first documented sighting of the fabled Mothman brought with it fear and apprehension. Some even blame the destruction of the Silver Bridge on the creature. There have been several books, movies, and articles written about it that would eventually cause it to become a popular icon in the paranormal world. And now the Mothman has returned. An individual, who wished to remain anonymous, recently submitted his report to the Munroe Falls Paranormal Society along with a familiar sketch of the creature that not so long ago haunted the dreams of West Virginians. Though it lacks the glowing red eyes, the image clearly has the same shape and stature of the much feared Mothman.

Christopher Davis was driving home from work on at 2:00 AM in 1988 down the road bordering the edge of old Scape Ore Swamp. It was a balmy June night, the kind when the wildlife around the swamp would howl at the moon. It had been a long day. Davis heard a popping sound, felt the weight of the car shift as one of the tires beneath him blew out. As he finished changing the tire, he heard a thumping sound behind him, like something running on bare feet.

A woman put into a medically induced coma was awakened by the sound of her Baby’s voice in Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Karen Morrisroe-Clutton, a 32 year old Librarian from Wrexham UK, was admitted to the hospital in early August after an E. Coli outbreak had infected a local eatery she had been eating at. She is now being released from the hospital after over 67 days thanks to the sound of her baby’s voice.

You’re working late, about to close up when you hear a timid knocking at the door. A small group of three children are standing silhouetted against the darkness. You get up, wondering what on earth they could be doing here. You turn on the outside lights and see them, pale and expressionless except for the tallest who grins unnaturally as he stares into your soul with eyes of darkest obsidian.

We live about 30 miles from Camp Lejeune in the county. We constantly have low flying military aircraft buzzing our house. We've gotten used to the noise, and expect it on a nightly basis. On 10/07/09 ( 2 days ago) we heard a louder than normal sound over the house, it actually shook the hose.

The Monster of Van Meter

There are several famous monster stories written in the annals of history in the American Midwest, but there is one story which, when remembered, still chills the bones of the inhabitants of a small town called Van Meter, Iowa. The creature was first spotted on October 05, 1903 by a Mr. US Griffith, who first spotted what appeared to be an electric searchlight coasting across a storefront to another building before disappearing. Less than one week later, the peaceful town of 1,000 would be in the grips of panic, refusing to turn any lights off after dark, several refusing to sleep, instead gripping rifles and shotguns and feverishly looking out windows for any signs of a dreaded monster.
