A paranormal research group is investigating a spate of ghostly sightings along Oldnall Road, between Wollescote and Cradley. Parasearch, which is celebrating 22 years of scientific investigation into the paranormal, is looking into claims that an apparition of a little girl has been spooking late-night motorists driving along the countryside part of the busy road. David Taylor, chairman of the group, said reports have been coming in, suggesting the ghostly figure may have been the cause of several accidents along the road.

According to a well-informed Ukrainian writer V. Krapiva, in the late 1930s a Russian researcher of the paranormal, Grabovsky conducted an interview with a reluctant witness. That man and his friends had explored a cave near the Issik Kul Lake, where they discovered three human skeletons, each more than three meters tall. The skeletons were adorned with decorations that looked like bats (flying mammals) made from silver. The men became scared out of their wits and kept silent about their discovery for many long years. They did melt the silver decorations, but a small piece had been saved. Soviet scientists who had studied the piece said they could not determine its age. Interestingly, a Kyrgyz legend does mention a submerged city in the lake. The city’s ruler, King Ossounes, was a creature with "long asinine ears". The lake itself has been known to experience paranormal phenomena.

Huddersfield cancer charity the Laura Crane Trust is challenging supporters to spend the night in a haunted house to raise cash. The charity, which funds research into cancers affecting young people, is hosting a ‘fright night’ event at Bolling Hall in Bradford. They want volunteers to spend the night in the hall, which is said to have more than 20 reported sightings of ghosts and incidents of paranormal activity. The oldest parts of the hall date from the medieval period and its ghosts are said to come from a variety of eras.

Conspiracy theorists expecting to find that the Ministry of Defence has been sitting on some great truth about visiting extraterrestrials will be hugely disappointed. There are no aliens in these files — at least, not aside from what might charitably be called letters from people with overactive imaginations. Most of the contents of the MoD's newly released UFO files are mundane and are clearly misidentifications of ordinary objects and phenomena. This should not be taken as an indication that these people are stupid and, indeed, in among the reports from members of the public are sightings from police officers, pilots and military personnel.

They are among hundreds of sightings of UFOs across the UK released in eight MoD files to the National Archive. Aliens from outer space have been visiting Britain for years and UFO sightings doubled after the film Close Encounters was released in 1977, according to secret files collating reports by members of the public. The alien craft come in all shapes, sizes and colors but their occupants are uniformly green, the Ministry of Defence files show. The archives (at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ufos) are the first batch of a four-year release programme of all the ministry's UFO files from 1978 to the present day.
