As night descends on the world on Halloween night, already tales of the paranormal are trickling in from those brave enough to venture out onto the dark streets of Samhain. Fall has come in full swing and so too have reports of mysterious children known as the Black Eyed Kids (or BEKs). These mysterious entities seem to appear out of nowhere and exude an unexplainable evil aura about them. Are these children more than simple frightened stories?
The Black Eyed Kids are largely unknown, but their presence almost always seems to portend a mysterious yet unmistakable danger. As they approach, their strange eyes seem to betray an unmistakable intelligence and horror that seems too much to be believed. So what are they really? The ghost stories of these entities have been shared for years, but no answers have been found on their identity.
The story leads back to one of the earliest reports coming from Brian Bethel. Bethel first reported his harrowing encounter in 2004. More recently, Bethel shared his thoughts on his encounter relating that the evil he felt during his experience was anything but entertaining or thrilling, but rather a deeper and more hostile fear. Bethel’s account may have been the earliest documented of encounters with BEK’s, but shortly after he shared the story, other accounts came out of the woodwork.
And then in the year 2010 as the lights begin to descend, social networking sites such as facebook and twitter are already relating accounts with these mysterious and terrifying beings. And by all accounts it seems as though many of those encountering these beings previously had no knowledge of the phenomena.
A typical encounter with these beings goes as follows: a group of children that look for the most part normal approach a house or a car and ask the occupant if they can enter the home for whatever reason. Typically they ask for something normal such as to use the phone or the bathroom. But as the owner looks into their eyes they notice something is entirely off about them. Their eyes have no pupils or whites. Instead, the entire space where their eyes are is completely black. The children become more desperate and hostile if they are denied access to their home, but will more often than not leave once the encounter is concluded. To date it is unknown what happens if you let these strange beings into your home because no reports have ever been told where witnesses did. Some have speculated the reason for this is because witnesses are unlikely to survive. More likely is that uniformly witnesses are too terrified by the strange appearance of a group of sinister youths without eyes to let them into their houses.
But with the increase in the number of reports coming in, we cannot help but ask ourselves what is going on out there tonight.
