In the movies, some people suspect their neighbor or best friend is a vampire because they display certain traits that make them different than others. Over the years, vampires have been linked to a variety of physical, mental, and even psychic characteristics. In this article, you will learn about some of the most popular attributes of a vampire.
The appearance of a vampire often always includes a paler shade of skin due to their inability to stay out in the sun. They have a skin and visual sensitivity to sunlight and easily burn if they come in contact with daylight. During the night, their vision greatly improves. Eye color can change according to their mood or for a spontaneous reason. Senses become heightened and flexes are quick with vampires. They also exhibit a super-human strength that doesn’t come with the usual sessions of pumping iron.
If a vampire is unable to feed for a period of time, they develop symptoms of sickness (similar to the flu) where they have no medical reason for getting sick. Some seem tired and fatigued even if they have received an adequate supply of blood to feed on. A ravenous appetite is not unusual for a vampire, who may seem constantly hungry or thirsty – even if it appears that they have eaten a nice amount of food. They may appear to battle extreme cravings to eat. The need to feed can create frequent headaches. When hurt, vampires heal quicker than others.
Mentally, a vampire can be described as strong-willed and independent nature. They often display a strong confidence paired with high intellect. They seem well educated, but sometimes possessing beyond the typical information and knowledge taught at school. Many vampires seem dark, predatory, and with a quick temper. They often exhibit moody tendencies. The nighttime appeals to the vampire, where the majority of creatures involved are bound to a nocturnal lifestyle.
Many vampires are equipped with special abilities, such as psychic powers. These characteristics include telepathy, mind reading, seeing the aura of a person, extra-sensory perception (ESP), telekinesis, pyrokinesis (dealing with fire), psychometry, astral travel or projection, past-life memories, belief in reincarnation, as well as different abilities, such as:
Clairaudience – Ability to mentally hear words and actions from a distance.
Clairvoyance – Ability to mentally see things from a distance
Clairsentience – Possessing knowledge that he or she cannot explain
Audiovoyance – Ability to see and/or hear spirits with the possibility to communicate.
Vampires are able to sense their own kind, which is often referred to as "vamp radar." In certain settings, vampires can easily blend into their surroundings without being noticed by someone who is looking for them. This kind of invisibility does not make them completely unseen. It is not uncommon to see a vampire participating in non-mainstream religions, such as Wiccan or Satanism.
