Ask anyone if things are getting worse or better after watching a few days worth of news, and they will always say they're getting worse. For example, you've probably heard "Divorce rates are at an all time high," but actually have statistically dropped significantly since 1975. But when looking at news stories from the past two years and comparing them to 2011, a shocking revelation comes about.
In 2011 we've had several major Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, at least one major nuclear incident, widespread revolution from Tunisia to Egypt (with talk of more revolutions on the horizon), major solar flares, and at least one major political assassination attempt. And with what appears to be so much chaos spreading throughout the world in a swirling cauldron of what some would simply describe as "Doom," we can't help but take a look back up the path and wonder if the outlook has always been so murky, or if the source might be metaphysical and soon to be revealed. And let's not forget the word Apocalypse is derived from the Greek word "apokalypsis" for revelation.
So is 2012 truly going to be a time of great change? Let's take a look at 2010 for comparison. Several events took place in 2010 by the month of April that made it look like major change was on the horizon. In January a major Earthquake hit Haiti on the 12th, only to be followed by the Chile Earthquake a little over a month later on February 27th. And by April 14th a volcano erupted in Iceland disrupting air travel for several days afterward. By April 20th the BP oil disaster had hit, sending millions of gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. On May 1st the attempted bombing of Times Square made headlines. In international news North Korea shelled the south on November 23rd.
By comparison, in the month of January alone we saw events unfolding and mysteries mounting even on January first with the first of the massive bird die offs taking place. A few days later we saw a major political assassination attempt with the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords. On February 17th one X class solar flare was preceded and followed by a series of M class flares from the sun threatening to disrupt communication for several hours in parts of the world and leaving the sun's future uncertain in terms of activity. There have been eight magnitude seven or greater Earthquakes since January 1st of 2011 - including four near Japan (one of which reached a magnitude of 9.0) And these Earthquakes brought about tsunamis and eventually a nuclear disaster which is still unfolding in Japan. Revolution in Tunisia, Egypt, was joined by major protests in Algeria, Djibouti, Iraq, Bahrain, and Iran with open armed conflict in Libya.
So it does actually appear that things are speeding up in 2011, and we could be facing an inevitable but long predicted change in the near future. The question is, what will be coming next? And is this evidence of a 2012 major change on Earth? Perhaps more terrifyingly, is it a sign that we could be facing the final days of humanity? Despite this opinion held by many, others find it hopeful that any change to come will be peaceful and positive as opposed to the themes seen in films about that date.
