The Pig is found in the twelfth zodiac location in Chinese astrology. When compared to Western astrology, it is seen as the equivalent of Scorpio and Sagittarius. Since the pig is associated with fertility, children that are born in the Year of the Pig are considered fortunate because they are thought to become happy and honest. In this article, you will learn more about the characteristics associated with the Pig in Chinese astrology.

When you first encounter a person born under the sign of the Pig, they seem too good to be true – they are quite sincere, pure and tolerant in their nature. When you put your faith in the Pig sign, they will not let you down and never try to disappoint. They gain a lot of admiration from others, especially since they want to stay on the right side of the track. You will find this sign is quite loving and caring of others.

Other personality traits of people born under the Year of the Pig include:

•    Their gentle nature makes a Pig most vulnerable to being taken advantage of.

•    It's quite easy to pull the wool over the eyes of a Pig. They like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and feel that all people are inherently good.

•    In relationships, the Pig is a sweet, caring and sensitive companion. They are also the sign most likely to get married and shower their mate with romance.

Traditional associations of the Pig zodiac sign include the north-northwest direction, the element of water, the autumn season, the month of November, the gemstone ruby, and the color of dark blue.

Are You a Pig?

You are born under the Year of the Pig if your birthday falls within these dates in relation to your birth year:

1911:  30 Jan 1911 - 17 Feb 1912 (Metal)
1923: 16 Feb 1923 - 04 Feb 1924 (Water)
1935: 04 Feb 1935 - 23 Jan 1936 (Wood)
1947: 22 Jan 1947 - 09 Feb 1948 (Fire)
1959: 08 Feb 1959 - 27 Jan 1960 (Earth)
1971: 27 Jan 1971 - 14 Feb 1972 (Metal)
1983: 13 Feb 1983 - 01 Feb 1984 (Water)
1995: 31 Jan 1995 - 18 Feb 1996 (Wood)
2007: 18 Feb 2007 - 06 Feb 2008 (Fire)
2019: 05 Feb 2019 - 24 Jan 2020 (Earth)

Compatibility with Pigs

Out of all the signs of the Chinese zodiac, the Pig and Goat make one of the happiest possible combinations in love. However, most marriages between a Dragon and Pig last for a really long time. Pigs that get together in a relationship make exceptional mates.  When they get together with a Rabbit, the relationship is rather compatible and they will enjoy a loving union with one another. A Pig and a Rat together make a great couple, while the admiration between the Pig and Monkey also creates a decent relationship.

With patience, the Pig can become a good mate for a Rooster and the two may enjoy a prosperous relationship. The Horse sign (as well as the Ox on some levels) also has the potential to create a decent union with the Pig. Despite being very different from one another, the Tiger and Pig can make a relationship work. Out of all the signs, it's very hard for the Pig to make a Snake happy.
