Motivated by a quest to expose suspected associates of the Illuminati and alleged supporters of a New World Order, political talking heads and other notable wealthy have been quite leery of the unknown hacker who went by the name of Guccifer. Until very recently, the hacker was able to covertly infiltrate the email accounts and other online correspondences of the likes of Colin Powell and former U.S. President George W. Bush, whose revealing hobby paintings were made public for all to see. Reports confirm that Guccifer has been arrested.
Able to elude police for years, Guccifer waged his own personal war against those he felt had connections to the Illuminati, or who he believed supported the totalitarian, one-government viewpoint associated with the New World Order. Using his technological and computer skills, Guccifer enjoyed gaining access to the private emails of significant political leaders.
Not only did he infiltrate the former President of the United States, but he also attacked Colin Powell and Sid Blumenthal. He hacked the Facebook account of Powell, and inserted negative messages about George Bush. Additional hacking antics revealed that Powell had engaged in an affair with Romanian European Parliament member Corina Cretu – a connection that the former secretary of state denies to this day.
Movers and shakers in the entertainment industry, as well as movie stars were also victims of his ire. He also hacked into the accounts of Steve Martin, and “Downton Abbey” writer Julian Fellowes, where he publicly posted the script to the show’s finale. Other victims have included editor Tina Brown, journalist Carl Bernstein, and even Candace Bushnell, author of ‘Sex and the City.’
The identity of Guccifer has been revealed as Marcel Lazar Lehel, a 40 year old man who is thought of as being the mastermind behind the infamous Internet attacks that revealed George W. Bush as an ‘artist.’ Lehal is a resident of Arad, and had already been convicted of a handful of other computer crimes in 2012. When Guccifer was an anonymous, unknown hacker, many believed that the mischief he caused was backed by a desire to use his hacking skills for the good.
Guccifer never fully explained what motivated his cyber attacks, but he did make mention of a fear that he had regarding a New World Order. He reportedly exclaimed: “I tell you this the world of tomorrow will be a world free of illuminati or will be no more.”
Lehel was arrested in Romania, where his hacking activities are believed to date back to 2010. Romania’s Directorate of Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) cooperated with authorities in the United States to conduct the raid that led to his capture. In a statement released by DIICOT officials, they referred to ‘reasonable suspicion’ that Lehel ‘repeatedly and illegally accessed, breaking security rules, email accounts belonging to public persons in Romania with the aim of getting electronic mail confidential data’ as being a breakthrough in identifying Guccifer.
In the end, Lehel will most likely have to face serious charges for his role in the cybercrimes he committed.
