If one person comes out with a claim that they were visited by an unknown extraterrestrial entity and taken aboard a spacecraft, it will be met with an understandable level of skepticism. If two people come forward with the same story it is more peculiar, but still many people will consider it possible the story was just fabricated. But what if four or more people were to come forward and claim they were abducted by an alien spacecraft and actually pass a lie detector test when asked about the events? Believe it or not this is often the case with mass alien abductions.
A typical encounter may include a group of friends who met each other over the course of a short period of time and decided to make their way into the woods for a relaxing retreat at a cabin. One night as they’re all sitting around the festive atmosphere suddenly drops and the participants feel as though they’re in a trance. A feeling like something very strange is happening fills the room and someone inexplicably says, “They’re here.” Light floods the windows they are in and a dull droning hum pierces the air. The door swings open as if on its own and standing in the doorway the group can just barely see the backlit outline of a short figure with a large head standing there with others behind it. Within moments their memories suddenly stop forming and they find themselves once again back wherever they were. The terrifying experience seems distant, as though it never happened to begin with, but all those present can’t shake the feeling that something very peculiar has transpired. Such is often the case with mass alien abductions.
Perhaps one of the most well known cases of a mass alien abduction was the taking of two brothers and two friends in 1976 while the group was camping in Allagash. As they were out canoeing one night they noticed a strange bright object in the sky that seemed to be following them. They began rowing away from the hovering object when one of the men shined a flashlight at the object with three short pulses, three long pulses, and three short pulses again to spell out the letters SOS in morse code. The object suddenly then shot off toward them and within seconds was hovering above them. After that they remembered very little of their experience. But soon they were plagued by nightmares and eventually sought the help of hypnotists in order to make sense of their fears over the events of that night. What they discovered was that they had been taken aboard a spacecraft by mysterious beings and subjected to a series of horrifying “tests.” And perhaps more horrifying than the disturbing detail each of them remembered while under hypnosis was the fact that each of them took a lie detector test after their experience and were found to not be lying about their experiences.
And while the Allagash Incident was considered one of the earliest and most disturbing of its kind, it was certainly not the only one. So what explanation can we come up with for mass alien abductions? None have been discovered so far.
