There are inevitably scores of people who will not want to make contact with the other side on Halloween, but there are also those who will want a chance to see or hear something creepy or unusual and take advantage of the increased amount of paranormal energy as the veils between worlds are thinned. Just as we’ve provided a guide on how to avoid ghosts on Halloween, we will now examine how to attract visitors and make them appear to give you a good story to tell later and possibly even photographic evidence of the visit.
Folklore is just as available on how to attract ghosts on this holiday as they are about leaving them out of the picture. And if you’re looking for a scare, there are plenty of ways to open the floodgates of paranormal activity to bring the spirits home. First, it should be noted that on Halloween the ghosts that are likely visiting will not be likely wanting to cause problem for their visitors. It stands to reason if you are choosing Halloween to descend on the streets of small towns and cities, you are unlikely looking to cause problems for visitors. As such you will likely be looking for a reaction and reconnect with the warmth and friendly interaction that can be humanity.
First, we covered in a previous article how keeping a jack-o-lantern outside is a good indicator of where the ghosts belong. Similarly, taking the jack-o-lantern indoors in a safe way gives the ghosts an indicator that they are welcome in the home on this night. Additionally, the paranormal manifestation of spirits is still possible in houses without Jack-o-lanterns. Even a simple candle visible from the street outside in a dimly lit room can indicate to a spirit that a house is spirit friendly.
Verbally inviting spirits can be as easy as speaking the invitation aloud in whatever words you choose. You can be as specific or as broad with the invitation as you wish. Though it won’t work immediately, your message is likely to be heard on All Hallows’ Eve. And when it comes time for these spirits to leave, the same verbal technique can be used appropriately with similar result.
Using a mirror to contact the other side, such as in the legend of Bloody Mary has been said to have dramatic results, though when it was originally practiced before the violent legend of Bloody Mary, the results were far different and more agreeable. As with anything to do with ghostly energy, this is reportedly largely related to intention. If you want a ghost to give you a scare, you may wish to reconsider as there have been several cautionary tales about such desires leading to terrifying experiences with sheets being pulled off beds and spectral sinister voices. On the other hand, simply wishing the ghost to appear at some point either through a mysterious sound or even in rare cases a full bodied spectral form should be quite sufficient to give most witnesses a good scare.
And above all else, remember this is for fun but you need to conduct yourself in a respectful way. You’re more likely to catch sight of ghosts with kind words and interest than with harshness and vulgarity.
