This story is true and really happened. When I think about it, it scares me…….
During summer 2000, I used to wake up at 07:00hrs for work, go downstairs to our bathroom, have a wash and clean my teeth. My wife used to get up about 10 minutes later, and the first thing she would do was come downstairs, go into the Kitchen and put the kettle on. The bathroom door is at a right angle to the kitchen door.
Most mornings I would see her go past and we would mutter something to each other. This particular morning I was cleaning my teeth and had my head pointing towards the sink. I saw through the corner of my eye a greyish figure go and thought it was my wife go by. I shouted out with, toothpaste in my mouth something to the effect of ‘Morning’. Usually my wife would answer, but this time I got no reply. I thought how ignorant, so I spat out the remaining toothpaste, wiped my mouth and walked to the kitchen to say ‘morning’ again. The Kitchen door was still half closed. I thought strange, why close the door behind you when you’re going to come straight out again. I pushed it open and looked in, there was no-one there. I was so convinced I had seen my wife, that I thought she may have slipped past me and gone into the front room. So I turned round and walked to the front room, only to find the door closed. I pushed it open and looked in. Again I found it empty. I was now even more convinced that I had seen her. I was certain she must have sneaked back upstairs, so I went up the stairs to have a look. I looked in round the bedroom door and found her still asleep in bed. I woke her up and asked if she had been downstairs to the kitchen. She said she hadn’t and that I had only just woken her up, I thought I was going mad. I knew I had seen someone walk behind me whilst I was in the bathroom and go into the kitchen.
It doesn’t end there: …………………………………
That night as I put my youngest daughter to bed (7 yrs old), she said said she was scared to go to bed on her own. I asked her why. She said she didn’t want to see the ‘shadow’ again. My ears pricked up. I asked what she was talking about. She said the previous night as she was lying in her bed trying to get to sleep, a ‘shadow’ floated from the hall and into her bedroom. It stopped by her bed and then vanished. I asked why she hadn’t come downstairs or shout out. She said she was too scared to do anything. To help her get to sleep that night, I told her she must have been dreaming and there was nothing to be scared of.
I was a little concerned after hearing that. So, as I was putting my eldest to bed (11 yrs old), I prompted her with the question, ‘have you seen anything strange recently’. She quickly sat up in her bed. She said the previous night she was lying in her bed when she saw who she thought was mum, go past her door into the youngest bedroom. She said she lay there for quite a while waiting for mum to come out as she wanted a drink. She said she got fed up waiting, so she got out of bed and went into the room. When she looked in, all she saw was the youngest lying there and mum wasn’t in the room.
As we keep the landing light on, I asked her what she thought mum was wearing when she walked past. She said she thought it was strange at the time, as mum was wearing all dark grayish clothes, and mum doesn’t wear that color.
I felt extremely uncomfortable from that time forward. Mybe all coincidence but maybe not.
