Continuing the exploration of some of the haunted schools in Utah, we will take a look at institutions, such as Weber State University, where two notable buildings on campus possess a few interesting tales of their own that deal with students gone awry.
Ogden is the location of Weber State University, which offers two different haunted sites throughout its premises. For starters, on the second floor of what is known as the Social Science and English Building, a student that was not all together was shot by a university campus officer one day. It is believes that the 22-year old student was upset with his girlfriend, who had ended their relationship and he wanted to make himself heard. He decided to start shooting at her and her other classmates.
During class time, as the clock inched its way towards 1:30 pm, students remember hearing shots and the sounds of screams. The building now holds the legend that you may feel as if someone or something is constantly watching you. Unexplained happenings are also attached to the building.
Weber State University is also home to a Student Senate Room, which has a tale of its own that dates back to 1993. A man once showcased a 22-caliber handgun and began to open fire on students, but was then subdued by campus police officials. According to one witness, as efforts were being made to perform First Aid on the assailant, he began to bleed in such a manner that when paramedics finally arrived, there was nothing they could do. He simply stopped breathing. When a local ghost-hunted organization attempted to locate the ghost of the man, it is said that faint lights were caught on video tape.
In Magna, there are two haunted schools to mention. The first is the name of a high school called Cyprus, where the school auditorium is believed to be haunted. Sometimes, the stage lights are known to go on and off without the help of anyone else. The room has become plagued with bats that fly about the area when assemblies are in session.
When workers go to inspect the auditorium, it seems that no bats are in sight and there is no evidence to show that they had a place to hide or set up a nest. The resident ghost of the grounds is also said to be a man, who dresses in clothes that look to originate from the 1930s. The school has a history of rebirth, as it burned to the ground once and was rebuilt two times since it was erected in 1910.
Webster Elementary is also found in Magna, which is a popular place for ghost hunters to seek out. It is here that an infamous ghost is said to have been captured by more than one camcorder. It is said that the ghost would trail about the classrooms to listen to the laughter and other sounds that the children made. In recent years, the home of the ghost burned down, a suspected case of vandalism and was later torn down as a result.
