As you spend time in the great state of Montana, you will encounter a stretch of land that covers the Pacific Northwest and the Great Plains regions of the United States. Many interesting cities can be found in Montana, many of which hold curious tales of local legends and ghostly images that creep in the still of night. In this article, we will touch upon haunted locations, such as the Garnet Ghost Town, and the Marsh Cemetery in Glendive.
The Garnet Ghost Town is situated in none other than a city by the same name. The site which some consider a full-blown ghost town is positioned in the hills of Montana that initially served as a mining town. Is it just me or do mining towns really pack an assortment of eerie legends and unforgiving ghosts? Anyhow, a hotel once thrived in the town until it caught on fire, which eventually set off a chain reaction , the townsfolk started moving away. If you venture to Garnet, the same hotel still stands (showing a small amount of damage). The houses and other buildings in the area are also in very good condition. The preservation of the town is remarkable.
Throughout the town, it is believed that an assortment of spirits linger. The feelings are especially strong when visiting the second floor of the hotel. If you are brave enough to walk up the stairs, you should keep walking straight until you reach the wall in front of you. This must be done without turning back. Once you reach the wall, you should turn left and open the door in front of you. It is said that one of the most prominent spirits in the area can be found here. As the legend goes, the spirit isn’t very friendly. Overall, it is a great place to seek out a wealth of paranormal happenings.
The Marsh Cemetery in Glendive dates back to the turn of the century, which has been kept up throughout the years. Although the size of the cemetery is rather small, there are big things occurring on the grounds if you are lucky to experience them. As you visit the area, you will encounter a wealth of plots that hold the remains of many members of the local population. At night, the cemetery is known to fill with numerous orbs.
As you travel on the highway from Great Falls to Fort Benton, you might come across the ghost of a Native American that is known to wander about the vicinity. Numerous reports have been filed of his existence. According to one account, a woman was driving to Great Falls one evening. Paying attention to the road, she noticed someone was in the road and suddenly heard a noise that sounded much like a car hitting an object (like a person). She jumped out of her car to see what happened and no one was in sight. As soon as she returned to the inside of her car, she drove forward and when she glanced in her rear view mirror, she spied the vision of a man walking along the road.
