“The Amityville Horrors” to Follow

The Amityville Horror story is just too tempting to pass up, as you will find in variety of made-for- TV movies and straight to video creations centered on the Amityville House/Horror.

* Amityville 1992: It’s About Time

Tagline: The Terror Returns With a Vengeance

Plot: The main characters brings home an odd clock that once belonged to the Amityville house, where he unknowing comes in contact with demonic spirits that have been hiding inside.

Facts: In the scene where the living room doors slammed on Lisa, a closer look will reveal that there are wires attached to the knobs. In the scene where Andrea pulls off the doorknob, her hand is covered in black slime, but in the next shot , we see that her hand is completely washed off.

* Amityville: A New Generation (1993)

Tagline: Terror Has a Reflection All its Own

An old mirror originating from a haunted Long Island house comes in contact with the family of a photographer, where evil begins to cause terror and chaos for all involved.  

Fact: In this movie, David Naughton and Richard Roundtree (of “Shaft” fame) were featured. A mistake in the movie is that Suki is still seen breathing on the floor when Dick supposedly finds her dead. This film was also known a “Amityville 1993: The Image of Evil.”

* Amityville: The Evil Escapes (1989)

Plot: A mystical lamp is the source of demonic forces that thrive in a haunted house located in Long Island.

The spirits escape and are able to travel to an isolated California mansion where the evil affects the mind and emotions of a young girl who takes on the form of her deceased father.  

Fact: Patty Duke took on the role of one of the main characters in this film.

* The Amityville Curse (1990)

Plot: This film shows five individuals spending the night at an abandoned house, which happens to be the Amityville haunted house. It doesn’t take long before they encounter an assortment of ghosts, unforgiving insects and ghostly apparitions.

Tagline: “It began as a best selling book, then exploded into movie history by shocking audiences around the world. Now, one of the greatest horror sagas of all time returns…”

Fact: In this film, Kim Coates plays one of the leads in this film. At the start of the film, the lights are not working in the house, where someone makes the suggestion to call “Con Edison.” However, if the movie takes place in Amityville, Long Island , the energy company to call is “LILCO” (Long Island Lighting Company), which provides services in Long Island. It is Con Edison that serves New York City.

* Amityville: Dollhouse (1996)

Plot: In this take of the infamous haunted Long Island house, we learn that it is a children’s dollhouse that becomes the source of demonic evil. The dollhouse is given to a young girl where the terror begins once again.

Tagline: “Home is where the Horror is…”

Fact: Additional taglines for this movie include: “The Amityville Horror has a new address…,”Evil Never Dies” and “Evil finds a new home.” Another working title for this movie was “Amityville Dollhouse: Evil Never Dies.”
