The former owners of the haunted Kehoe House were a loving couple that had a rather large family. They were highly attached to their home, which is thought to play out in the hauntings of the property. In this article, you will encounter some of the ghosts associated with the property that is now used as an historic inn.
The Kehoes loved their home , it was the place where they raised 10 children and created a lifetime of memories. Some rooms held a special place in the hearts of the Kehoes. For example, the father William Kehoe would hideaway in the rafters where a room offered a quiet and peaceful place for the patriarch. With a cupola, the room became his private study, where he would go to read and meditate.
On the second floor, you will find the master bedroom of the Kehoes. The children had rooms located on the second and third floor. Annie Kehoe was a very involved mother and where it was not uncommon for a nanny to assume a great deal of responsibilities for rearing children, Annie spent every night listening to the prayers of her children, reading to them, and kissing them goodnight before they drifted off to slumber.
The Kehoes had 10 children that survived, but no one knows how many infants or young children did not live into adulthood , succumbing to illness or other causes of death. One reports states that the Kehoes had twins that died when they were 4 or 5 year olds in an accident that involved a chimney. Because of this, the home had blocked chimneys that were decorated with angels.
Introducing the Ghosts of Kehoe House
The main ghosts of Kehoe House are Annie (the mother), William (the father), twin boys (who died in the house), and some of the other children that once lived in the home.
Annie Kehoe (mother)
There have been reports that Annie Kehoe enjoys visiting people staying in rooms 201 and 203 at the historic inn. The presence of a friendly female is believed to have sat on the bed next to a sleeping guest in room 203. Her apparition has been sighted sitting at the desk in room 203 and writing something. Guests have reported an intense scent of roses in room 201, which is where the apparition of Annie has also been seen.
The third floor is another location of the home that Annie seems to visit , right around bedtime. It is said that the ghost lovingly kissed the cheek of a former owner who was spending the night. She is also thought to have laid down in his bed in one of the bedrooms on the third floor. It is believed that she spends most of her time between the third and second floor. Some guests believe to have felt her presence during a stay.
