Sunlight and well-drained soil is key for ensuring the health of the rhubarb. Chinese rhubarb also grows best when planted close to water. It is also customary for plants (6 to 10 years old) to be dug up in the fall after the stems and leaves have turned yellow.

Primary Uses

Chinese rhubarb is mainly used to treat constipation, stomach pain, and also possesses antibacterial properties. Studies reveal that the rhubarb can treat canker sores and folliculitis. Interestingly, small does of the rhubarb will create a constipating effect, while large doses work as a laxative.

Predominant Preparations

When using Chinese rhubarb to treat health ailments, a decoction can tend to the occasional attack of constipation. It is suggested to take 100 milliliters of the decoction each evening. A tincture consisting of Chinese rhubarb can jumpstart your appetite. Take 20 drops of the tincture while sipping on water , two time per day. However, if you are looking for an easier way to intake your herbs, consider tablets , a good way to combat constipation.

Precautions

When using Chinese rhubarb to treat your medical ailments, it is important to note that this is not a natural remedy for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are menstruating, it is not a good idea to use Chinese rhubarb. Some medical conditions will also put you in a high risk for side effects when using Chinese rhubarb, such as gout or kidney stones.
