In this article, which continues to explore the ins and outs of numerology, you will learn how to read English letter numeric values and come to a single digit that serves as your key to better understanding numerology. Below you will also learn a sample system to use with the number you will arrive at when following the process.

Breakdown of Numbers

In order to arrive at the numbers used to examine a numerological link, numerologists usually reduce a number or a word following a process referred to as ‘digit summing.’ This is when a single digit is produced for analysis. In some cases, keep in mind that it becomes necessary to repeat the process of taking the sum of all digits in order to receive a single-digit sum to work with.

Understanding English Letter Numeric Values

As you enter the process of digit summing, you should become familiar with the numeric values that correspond to the English letters. They are as follows: A = 1; B = 2; C = 3; D = 4; E = 5; F = 6; G = 7; H = 8; I = 9; J = 10 (1); K = 11 (2); L = 12 (3); M = 13 (4); N = 14 (5); O = 15 (6); P = 16 (7); Q = 17 (8); R = 18 (9); S = 19 (10) (1); T = 20 (2); U = 21 (3); V = 22 (4); W = 23 (5); X = 24 (6); Y = 25 (7); and Z = 26 (8). So, if you’re name with Annie, you would add up A = 1;  = 14 (5); N = 14 (5); I = 9; and E = 5 to arrive at the total sum of 43.

You would then need to add 4 and 3 together to arrive at the final single-digit sum of 7. While there are no set meanings to specific digits, commonalities exist throughout various systems of belief. One example is listed below (taken from Psyche.com), which depicts what is perceived by some as the fundamental properties of the numbers one through ten :

“0 – Everything or absoluteness. All (Also called cipher) It is usually used to refer to a higher existence.
1 – Individual. Aggressor. Yang.
2 – Balance. Union. Receptive. Yin. – Inquisitive and thorough.
3 – Communication/interaction. Neutrality. – Expressive and creative
4 – Dedication and discipline, hard worker, methodical.
5 – Action. Restlessness. – Multiplicity, diversity
6 , Reaction and flux. Responsibility. – Family and management
7 , Thought and consciousness. – Learning, knowledge, teaching.
8 , Power and sacrifice.
9 – Completion. – Humanitarian, overseer, can easily grasp the whole picture.
10 – Rebirth”

There are many other ways to assess your numeric power. It is not uncommon to see people use their name and birth date as a way to create a single digit that is then used to gain insight regarding their personality. There are also many different cultures and outcomes associated with numerology, including the system associated with the Chinese, where different sets of meanings are assigned to numbers. Depending on the combination, you are linked to higher levels of luck. As a rule of thumb, even numbers are often considered pretty lucky, since many cultures feel that good luck reveals itself in pairs.
