With a checkered past dotted with drug abuse, girlfriend issues, and a volatile relationship with his mother, Eminem is considered one of the most popular rappers in today’s society. Winning plenty of awards and accolades throughout the entertainment industry, it’s no wonder that he would be rapping about ‘Monsters’ and demons inside of his head in his recent collaboration with singer Rihanna. Releasing the single at the end of October and followed by the filming of a music video in late November, the lyrics associated with the rapper are quite revealing.
In an interview with music reporter Sway Calloway, Eminem admitted that he intentionally sought after Rihanna to work together for this particular song. He says that he thought that it would be a good idea because he feels people tend to look at the two of them like they are a little nuts.
So, who are the ‘Monsters’ that Eminem is referring to?
Eminem’s Monsters
‘The Monster’ is a single from the eighth studio album of Eminem titled, ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2.’ He uses the song to share his feelings regarding the pitfalls of fame that he’s experienced throughout his prosperous career. Some of the statements made in the lyrics is that he ‘lost himself’ in the process, and let his ego get the best of him.
He raps:
“Fame made me a balloon cause my ego inflated
When I blew; see, but it was confusing
Cause all I wanted to do is be the Bruce Lee of loose leaf
Abused ink, used it as a tool when I blew steam
(Ooh!) Hit the lottery, oh wee
But with what I gave up to get was bittersweet”
With talk of self-harm and embracing negative behaviors, Eminem admits that what he had to give up was ‘bittersweet’ – almost like a ‘sold my soul to the Devil’ kind of metaphor.
“Cause I need an interventionist to intervene between me and this monster
And save me from myself and all this conflict”
Some could read into his words as if he’s trying to overcome his personal demons, but the ‘monster’ could also be a specific evil influence, such as Satan.
‘The Monster’ isn’t the only song of Eminem’s that contains lyrics and symbolism that people may read into. There are some who believe that Eminem might have been a victim of MK Ultra mind control or have ties to the Illuminati.
It’s very possible that the popular entertainer could have been used by ‘handlers’ to spread a message of rebellion, violence, and chaos to the public. He sold millions of records and won plenty of awards (even when he didn’t have any current material out). He had the attention of countless people – of all ages – especially striking a chord with the younger generation. This is what makes those who wish to control the minds of influential celebrities quite happy – to make lots of money while pushing their agendas down the throats of the masses.
In the past, some have viewed his video and lyrics for “Not Afraid” as a sign that Eminem may have been trying to break free from the clutches of the Illuminati. Some of the statements that have raised eyebrows include:
“Yeah, It’s been a ride…
I guess i had to go to that place to get to this one
Now some of you might still be in that place
If you’re trying to get out, just follow me
I’ll get you there”
“And I just can’t keep living this way
So starting today, I’m breaking out of this cage
I’m standing up, Imma face my demons
I’m manning up, Imma hold my ground
I’ve had enough, now I’m so fed up
Time to put my life back together right now”
“But it’s time to exorcise these demons”
The below lyrics of ‘Rap God’ (another song from this same album) speak of conflict inside of his head – there’s a struggle between good (represented by the angels) and evil (referred to as ‘devils’):
“But in my head there’s something I can feel tugging and struggling
Angels fight with devils and here’s what they want from me”
In the music video for the song, the rapper is also shown with red Devil horns.
Overall, Eminem makes quite a bit of references to the Devil and fighting demons, and that in of itself is quite telling.
