Some people meditate by sitting in a yoga position for a long time while others like to take a lengthy soak in a tub. There are many different ways to meditate and many of them can benefit from the use of therapeutic scents. In this article, you will learn of the various ways that one can incorporate essential oils into their daily meditation. There are probably much more than you think”¦
Baths
Run hot water into your tub that isn’t too hot to the touch. To invigorate your mood and send you into a relaxed state, add 5 to 10 drop of essential oil. With your bathroom door shut, allow the vapors to take control of your body and mind. Try to soak for at least 15 minutes. If you have sensitive skin, it is suggested to dilute your essential oil before adding to the bath. This is accomplished by using a base oil, like sweet almond. Apricot or peach kennel is also acceptable for dilution.
Another point to make is that when you add essential oil to your bath (if plastic), you can leave marks behind. It is important to wipe your bath immediately after soaking.
Shower
A lot of people like to ease their body and mind during a nice shower. First, wash your body and rinse well. Next, take a damp sponge and sip into an oil mix of your choice. Squeeze the contents all over your body while a warm spray of water showers your body.
Jacuzzi or Hot Tub
While being in a hot tub is relaxation in its own right, imagine adding a little something special to the water. Try 10 to 15 drops of sandalwood, geranium, or ylang ylang essential oil. Some people enjoy the stimulating scents of pine, rosemary, and neroli.
Foot Bath
When your feet are tired from a long day at work, slip into a more comfortable mood by adding 4 to 5 drops of essential oil to a large bowl of hot water large enough to accommodate your feet. Recommended essential oils for this method include peppermint, rosemary, and thyme. Others like to soothe their feet and mind with a bit of lavender.
Hand Bath
Just like a foot bath, a hand bath aims to provide relief for overworking fingers and hands. Perhaps you are suffering from chapped skin on the hands. Allow 3 to 4 drops of essential oil to do the trick. It is suggested to use patchouli or comfrey essential oils, especially right before indulging in a manicure. Soak your hands in a bowl of warm water with the essential oil for relief. Make sure that the water is not hot.
