John Titor admitted fully that his presence in the current timeline would alter it significantly given time, and additionally suggested that the civil war his people underwent may or may not happen thanks to the unpredictable “one or two percent” deviation between the two universes. And this time traveler’s story has some people comparing the two timelines. In 2011, according to Titor’s story, the United States joined the rest of the world in an intense civil war.
John Titor first appeared on the internet in 2000 only a year before 9/11 would change the world significantly. Many Titor followers suggest that since the time traveler didn’t include the events of 9/11 that this may have been the first major historical event to branch the two timelines from one another – it suggests that we will never see John Titor’s timeline directly, though events within it may eventually be mimicked in our own time. But other parallels that have already been set in motion and cannot be widely stopped may end up appearing throughout the world.
Titor’s claim that a large number of patients may start showing indications of Creutzfeld Jakob disease has been at least partially vindicated since it was first made after scientists concluded that the illness may take more time then previously thought in 2006. Of course the actual number of known Mad Cow sufferers is quite low at the moment, there are an estimated 15 people living with the illness after 1990 when over 2,000 cases were being investigated as being possible Mad Cow cases.
But at the moment, (speaking relatively) in 2011 John Titor explained that a major civil war had broken out in the United States followed by a brief but rapidly escalating World War throughout the world destroys most population centers. Since 2000, Titor’s claims have captured peoples’ imaginations and raised questions about our own future as a world. But even then, he admitted that he could not fully predict what would happen in our own world, instead suggesting that the Earth will always be cyclical and have a great deal of trouble to deal with before the next decade is completed. And perhaps the most troubling aspect of John Titor’s story was how credible it was despite having no real connection to any body that could be identified. He appeared and then disappeared out of nowhere just as quickly and never put a face to the name.
But there is some hope to Titor’s story, even if at this point in the timeline they would be experiencing an incredible amount of stress. Just as all previous points in history eventually lead to a time of relative peace, Titor’s own timeline is likewise filled with peace eventually. One of the things about his current point in history that he liked to talk about was sailing, which was one of his hobbies. And after the tremendous wars and hardship eventually a closer knit group of people came out of it all. We can only hope that this element above all was truly prophetic.
