There is a type of UFO (I have ctagorized various types based on
propulsion method) I call the ‘wheel’ or ‘ring’ type which seem to
operate on the priciple of an accelerated plasma within a ring. This
plasma may consist of a vaporised metal which has a low vaporization
temperature such as mercury or even tin. (remember the mercury whirlwind
vimanas?). A particular old UFO story tells of what appeared to be a
crippled craft with the appearance of a spoked wheel. It suffered an
explosion but did not crash as it was rescued by a couple of similar
craft. Debris from the explosion was recovered. There were fragments of
a curved brass-like metal like sections of cylindrical curve. On the
inside of the curvature the surface was pitted and charred. Also found
were spatters of what had been a molten metal but now solidified which
had the weight and appearance of tin. Another story relates of a similar
shaped craft which was wobbling and emitted some of the metal like a
rain before straightening up and leaving. The metal was collected and
analysed to be an extremely pure grade of tin.

What if the ring section was a hollow toroid consisting of segments that
could magnetically accelerate the metal vapor in a circular path much
like a cyclotron?
